“During the year 1800, the French naturalist, Cuvier, announced the hypothesis that all ethnic types were traceable to Ham, Shem, and

Japhet, the three sons of Noah. After that date race classification developed into an amazing contest; a struggle which still rages.” (emphasis added)

Professor Jackson then referred to Haeckel in 1873 listing twelve distinct races and later “annexing twenty-two more races a few years later,

bringing the grand total of human types up to thirty-four,” and Deniker in 1900 “presenting to the world “six grand divisions, seventeen

divisions, and twenty-nine races. And despite all this industry among anthropologists, ethnologists and the like, there is yet no agreement on the

classification of races.”

Cuvier was widely hailed in Franc as the Aristotle of his age, and a founder of geology, paleontology, and modern comparative anatomy, referred to native Africans as the most degraded of human races, whose form approaches that of the beast and whose intelligence is nowhere great enough to arrive at regular government. (Cuvier , 1812, p. 105

However, the following was the political-social consensus with regard to the study of Anthropology

“ …(Paul Broca) encountered great difficulty in establishing a society in France. The Minister of Public Instruction and the Prefect of Police believed that anthropology must as the free pursuit of knowledge about human beings be innately subversive to the state. When permission was at last and reluctantly granted for Broca to talk about science with eighteen colleagues, the Prefect of Police held Broca responsible personally for all that might be said in such meetings ‘against society, religion, or the government.’ Even so, the study of human beings was considered so dangerous that a police spy in plain clothes was assigned to attend all meetings, with the understanding that authorization to meet would be withdrawn immediately if the spy was offended by anything that was said. Inthese circumstances the Society of Anthropology of Paris gathered for the first time on May 19, 1859, the year of the publication of the Origin of Species. In subsequent meetings an enormous range of subjects was discussed – archaeology, mythology, physiology, anatomy, medicine, psychology, linguistics and history – and it is easy to imagine the police spy nodding off in the corner on many an occasion.

“… Not only the police but also the clergy opposed the development of anthropology in France, and in 1876 the Roman Catholic political party organized a major campaign against the teaching of the subject in the Anthropological Institute of Paris founded by Broca.

18th Century French Anthropologist, Cuvier had this to say about “the Negro race”: p. 241:

“The Negro race … is marked by black complexion, crisped or woolly hair, compressed cranium and a flat nose. The projection of … the monkey tribe: he hordes of which it consists have always remained in the most complete state of barbarism.’

Cuvier:

” … ‘the stupidity of Negroes resulted from their ‘lack of civilization,’ and (paradoxically) that their vices were the gifts of whites.’

Professor Stocking:

“In 1817, however, Cuvier maintained that Egyptian civilization had not been created by ‘any race of ‘blacks,’ but by men of the same race as ourselves, ‘who had ‘an equally large cranium and brain,’ and who offered no exception ‘to that cruel law which seems to have condemned to an eternal inferiority the races of depressed and compressed skulls.’ … ‘There are, however, also certain intrinsic causes which seem to arrest the progress of certain races, even in the most favorable (environmental) circumstances.’

“ In the description of three ‘Varieties of the Human Species’ which followed

Mongoloid)

Cuvier maintained that the civilization of the Mongolian race had remained stationary and that Negroes had never progressed beyond utter barbarism.’ [Footnote: Lettres de Georges Cuvier a C. M. Pfaff sur l’histoire naturelle, la politique et la litterature , 1788-1792 (Paris, 1858, p. 201, letter of December 31, 1790: ‘Extrait d’observations faires sur le cadavre d’une femme connue a Paris et a Londres sous le nom de Venus Hottentotte,’ Mems, du Museum d’Histoire naturelle, III (1817), 273; Le Regne animal distribue d’apres son organisation (Paris, 1836), I, 96-99]

and Gobineau (Bernal, 1987, 1989, 241):

” … ‘The black variety is the lowest and lies at the bottom of the ladder. The animal character lent to its b asic form imposes its destiny from the moment of conception. It never leaves the most restricted intellectual zones … If its faculties for thinking are mediocre or even nonexistent, it possesses in its desire and as a consequence in its will an intensity that is often terrible. Many of the senses are developed with a vigour unknown in the other two races: principally taste and smell. It is precisely in the greed for sensations that the most striking mark of its inferiority is found.’

If Europeans were treating Blacks as badly as they did throughout the 19th century, Blacks had to be turned into animals or, at best, sub-humans, the noble Caucasian was incapable of treating other full humans in such ways. This inversion sets the scene for the racial and main aspect of the ‘Egyptian problem.’ If it had been scientifically ‘proved’ that Blacks were biologically incapable of civilization, how could one explainAncient Egypt — which was inconveniently placed on the African continent?’ (Bernal’s italics). There were two, or rather, three solutions. The first was to deny that the Ancient Egyptians were blac; the second was to deny that the Ancient Egyptians had created a ‘true’ civilization; the third, was to make doubly sure by denying both. The last has been preferred by most 19th — and 20th-century historians.”

So then what does modern history books and and archaeological discoveries and research findings covering the ancient Mediterranian world about the time of the writing of Genesis by the Jewish rabbinical writers have to say about Jewish History and Noah and his sons; the founding of the Nations “north of the Caspian and Baltic Seas”; and of Greece, as “the Mother of Western Civilization” and the “Biblical Origin of People of the African or Black race:

Robert Graves & Raphael Patai, in Hebrew Myths: Stories of Cosmic Forces, Deities, Angels, Demons, Monsters, Giants and Heroes – Interpreted in the Light of Modern Anthropology and Mythology (Anchor Books: Doubleday: New York, London, Toronto, Sydney, Auckland, Australia), 1963, 1964, Pp. 226-227, Indicated:

“Genesis, which is far more closely linked with Greek, Phoenician, Hittite, Ugaritic, Sumerian, and other bodies of myth than most piousJews and Christians care to admit, was edited and re-edited from perhaps the 6th Century B.C. onwards, for moralistic ends. [pp. 14-15)

While for educated people the statement supposedly made by Santorum is unbelievable in the year 2012 or a “far-out liberal Democratic” joke intending to bring Santorum down for his sincere Christian beliefs. That quoted “supposed” statement of Santorum contains each of the basic tenets or literalist beliefs expressed by Fundamental Christians. Literalist meaning the belief that every word in the Bible is God’s revealed word. Fundamental Christians quote the New Testament and Paul’s scriptures against women as leaders in the church and that they should not be allowed to “speaki” in the church and should in marriage be subordinate to their husbands. Biblical literalists are committed to interpreting the Bible by adhering closely to the explicit words given in the text.

As with the “God’s Hamitic curse” making the skin-color of descendants of Cain “black” as punishment for little Cain’s action’s (Jewish rabinnic Misnah interpretation discussed in Robert Graves & Raphael Patai’s “Hebrew Myths: Stories of Cosmic Forces, Deities, Angels, Demons, Monsters, Giants and Heroes–Interpreted in the Light of Modern Anthropology and Mythology,” Chapter 21: “Noah’s Drunkenness,”When Noah awoke from his drunken sleep,he saw what his little son Noah had done to him, and cried: ‘God’s curse upon Canaan! May his bbrothers make him a slave of slaves! But blessed be the God of Shem, whom Canaan shall serve. May He also enlarge Japheth, to dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall serve them both. Noah lived another three hundred and fifty years.” Genesis xx. 20-28.

The Genesis version of this myth has been carelessly edited. Ham could not be blamed in justice, for noticing his father’s nakedness; and Noah would never have laid such a grave curse upon Ham’s innocent son Canaan, even if this involuntary act had been Ham’s only fault. The text ‘And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his little son had done onto him’ points to a gap in the narrative, plausibly filled by the midrashic account of his castration. Noah’s curse shows that the sinner was little Canaan, not Ham ‘father of’ is clearly an editorial insertion. The myth is told to justify Hebrew enslavement of Canaanites –Canaan was “Chnas”for the Phoenicians and Agenor for the Greeks. —

In Time-Life Books, “Titans and Olympians: Greek and Roman Myth,” from which it was borrowed, Chapter 20: “The Origins of the World,” in the Section: “The Castration of Uranus,” it was indicated:

“Only Chronus, the youngest, dared to take up his mother’s cause. Gaia made a sickle for Cronus out of a material so hard tht only the gods could make weapons from it. She plotted with her son how to catch Uranus off-guard, and showed him where to lie in wait within her body. As night fell, Uranus spread himself over the Earth and lowered himself towards his wife to make love to her. Cronus slashed out with his sickle, castrating his father, and flung away his genitals.”

Patai and Graves stated: “Some say that at the height of Noah’s drunkenness he uncovered himself, whereupon Canaan, Ham’s son entered the tent, mischievously looped a stout cord about his grandfather’s genitals, drew it tight, and unmanned him. Ham then also entered. When he saw what had happened, he told Shem and Japheth, smiling as if it were a jest for idlers in the marketplace: but earned their curses.

Others say that Ham himself unmanned Noah, who awakened from his drunken sleep and understanding what had been done to him, cried:

“Now I cannot beget the fourth son whose children I would have ordered to serve you and your brothers! Therefore it must be Canaan, your first-born, whom they enslave. And since you have disabled me from doing ugly things in the blackness of night, Canaan’s children shall be born ugly and black! Moreover, because you twisted your head around to see my nakedness your grandchildren’s hair shall be twisted into kinks, and their eyes red; again, because your lips jested at my misfortune, theirs shall swell; and because you neglected my nakedness they shall go naked, and their male members shall be shamefuly elongated. Men of this race are called Negroes ; their forefather Canaan commanded them to love theft and fornication, to be bandied together in hatred of their masters and never to tell the truth.” [Source: “Sanhedrin 72a-b, 108b B. Pesahim113bTanhuma Buber Gen. 49-50; Tanhuma Noah 13, 15Gen. Rab. 341]”

The same midrash passage was quoted by Yosef-ben Jochannan in “Africa: Mother of Western Civilization,” citing Patai and Graves.

Black Fundamentalist Christians, usually ignorant of this passage with regard to the “Biblical Origin of the Black Race,” continue to support preachers and politicians insisting upon a literal belief in the Bible and are told they are going against God’s word to vote for anyone not believing in a literal belief in the Bible – despite what the Bible says about the skin-color of people of the black race and about the role of women in the church!

Ben Jochannan – Proverbs and the 10 Commandmens:

Dr. Yosef ben Jochannan in”A Brief Chronology of the Development and History of the Old and New Testament from its African and Asian Origins to its European and European-American Revisions, Versions, etc then Professor of History and Religion, New York, N.Y. (Marymount College, Tarrytown, Malcolm-King College, Extension of Fordham University, Bronx, Mount St. Vincent College, Westchester and Marymount College: Manhattan, New York City) , indicated:

“The very first “Bible” or “Scroll” on record produced by man, with regard to paying honor and divine respect to a “Creator of All Mankind” was that of the African people of the Nile Valley and Great Lakes region of central, east, and Northeast Africa, about 4,000 B.C. It was called by its African creators and developers: “The Book of the Coming Forth by Day and By Night,” and was translated from its original hieroglyphic y text into the English language by Sir Ernest A. Wallis Budge and published in England in 1895 A.D. and entitled: “The Egyptian Book of the Dead,”. (p. 2).

This original Bible was produced by the Africans approximately 3,400 years before the King James version of the Old and New Testament: the latter being one of the very late of the hundreds of revisions and translations of the Bible over a period of approximately 2,495 years, from about 700 B.C. (p. 1).

The African Heritage:

Dr. Ben stated:

Most Black people do not know that the Old and New Testament historically, geographically, socio-politically, and racially, etc. are part and parcel of their own heritage. (p. 2)

Professor ben-Jochannan answers such questions as:

“When was the first Hebrew or Jewish Bible written?

“How many books were in the first Jewish Bible?

“How many books were in the first Christian Bible?

“In what year was the Moslem (Muslim) Quran or Bible written?

“How many versions preceded the King James version and, were all of the men who wrote all of the versions equally “inspired.?”

Also, rather than just saying that black people or the Egyptians “wrote the Bible” – the present day King James version – Dr. Ben goes further than that and shows or provides evidence that what appears in Proverbs had been written by an African Egyptian Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1387 B.C. – 1350 B.C.) 400 years prior to Proverbs 22: 17, 20-22, 24 in the Hebrew Old Testament written by King Solomon. [1387 B.C. – 970 B.C. = 417 years

Dr. Yosef ben-Jochannan, in Africa: Mother Of Western Civilization (1971) made the following comparison an undisputably almost “word for word” 10th Century B.C. Hewbrew Bible rabbinical rabbis borrowing” from a 14th Century B.C. Egyptian Document:

Pharaoh Amenhotep IV (Akhenaton) was a part of the “Golden Age” in Egypt, introduced “monotheism”, abolished old gods, and took the name Akhenaton after Aton, the sun god.
